Neil Ferguson Ph.D. is a Programme Manager who works with the Launchpad in the National University of Ireland Galway. Neil is focused on incubating and supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs through inspiring and supporting students and alumni in the development of their business ideas from concept to business launch. Neil provides resources, one-on-one coaching, access to networks of advisors, and a place where undergraduate entrepreneur can find other like-minded students.

Neil joined the Launchpad team in 2017 from Science Foundation Ireland’s Centre for Research in Medical Devices (CÚRAM) which is a national research centre. It was there that Neil served as Business Development and Industry Programme Manager. During his successful tenure at CÚRAM, he initiated and managed 20+ commercial partnerships with medical device companies. This represents a total project investment of over €9M. Neil also initiated and lead CÚRAM’s Future Innovators Training programme which provided entrepreneurial training to CÚRAM researchers and provided them with the skill sets required to identify and validate unmet clinical needs and to develop technology roadmaps to bring their solutions to market.

Neil also comes with 20+ years of experience in business development and technology commercialisation in both Ireland and the USA. He held several management positions at NUI Galway’s Technology Transfer Office. While there, he was instrumental in generating a large portfolio of patents, commercial agreements, and spin-out companies.
